EOSG — The Bonus Most Nurses Don't Factor In

End of Service Gratuity is a mandatory payout when your employment ends in GCC. It's calculated on basic salary and can add 1–4 months' salary per year worked. A critical part of total compensation.

🇦🇪 UAE EOSG Formula

21 days basic salary per year for the first 5 years. 30 days per year after 5 years. Calculated on basic salary only (not total package). Paid on resignation or employer termination.

📊 Example: AED 8,000 basic × 2yr contract = AED 8,000 × (21×2÷30) = AED 11,200 EOSG after 2 years

🇸🇦 Saudi EOSG Formula

Half month's salary per year for first 5 years, full month per year after 5 years. Must complete contract or be terminated by employer to receive. Resigning before 2 years forfeits entitlement in most Saudi contracts.

📊 Example: SAR 10,000 basic × 2yr = SAR 10,000 × (0.5×2) = SAR 10,000 EOSG after 2 years

🇶🇦 Qatar EOSG Formula

3 weeks basic salary per year. 1 month per year after 5 years. Qatar Labour Law (Law No. 14 of 2004 as amended) governs. Post-2020 reforms improved portability of EOSG when changing employers.

📊 Example: QAR 10,000 basic × 2yr = QAR 10,000 × (3wk×2÷4.33wk) = QAR 13,860 EOSG after 2 years

Key EOSG Rules to Know

EOSG is based on basic salary only, not total package. Allowances are excluded. Most GCC nurses maximise EOSG by: staying for 2-year contracts minimum, negotiating higher basic (not just allowances), and always completing contracts rather than resigning early.

💡 Strategy: A nurse with AED 10,000 basic (vs AED 8,000 basic + AED 2,000 allowance) will earn AED 2,800 more EOSG over 2 years — purely from how the contract was structured.
⚠️ Important: EOSG is NOT paid if you resign before completing 1 year in most GCC countries. After 1 year but before 2 years, you typically receive 50% in UAE/Qatar. After 2+ years, you receive 100%. Always complete your contract if financially possible.

Realistic Annual Savings — ICU Senior Nurse

After monthly remittance home (estimated $500–$700 USD equivalent), personal living expenses, and entertainment. Employer-provided accommodation assumed. Tax-free.

Assumptions: employer accommodation + transport provided, monthly remittance equivalent to $600 USD, moderate lifestyle spending equivalent to $400 USD/month

🇦🇪 UAE Annual Savings

≈ $15,000–$24,500 USD/year
🇸🇦 Saudi Annual Savings
